Prof. Hailin Wang received his Ph.D. from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, in 1997. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research and served as a Research Associate at the University of Alberta, Canada, from 2000 to 2005. Prof. Wang is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to the fields of DNA methylation and demethylation. He was among the first researchers to discover DNA N6-methyladenine in higher eukaryotes and identified vitamin C as a crucial cofactor for TET dioxygenases, significantly enhancing oxidative DNA demethylation. His research expertise also encompasses the development of ultrasensitive analytical technologies, including capillary electrophoresis-laser induced fluorescence polarization, single-molecule fluorescence imaging, and UHPLC-MS/MS. These advanced methodologies have been widely applied to the detection of carcinogenic DNA adducts and the investigation of DNA repair protein interactions. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Wang has received numerous prestigious honors and awards, including the Presidential Special Award for Graduate Students from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1997), the “Hundreds of Talents” Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2005), the CAIA Scientific Award Special Medal (2015 and 2020), the Outstanding Young Scientists Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (2011), and the Beijing Natural Science Award (First Prize, 2024). Prof. Wang continues to make significant contributions to molecular biology, epigenetics, and analytical chemistry through his innovative research and scientific leadership.
